Nothing but Crows

On a Sunday

I’ve been taking it fairly easy today. Double checked my computer to make sure the infections hadn’t regenerated again and was pleased to see they hadn’t.

Most of the teachers are back from their vacations now. One of them stopped by to pick up her keys and brought some little gifts for us. I thought that was so nice of her! It’s nothing big really, just something for Toby, mugs for Brody and I, a belly button lint cleaner for Brody, a pin for me and a little piece of “the rock” for me. It was such a sweet thing for her to do and it really made me happy. The two of us chatted for a bit before I headed over next door to meet up with Bro and some other people for brunch. It was actually kind of nice and didn’t go too long, so I didn’t have to feel rude or awkward about wanting to get back to my place.

I also got in a good twenty minutes of high intensity exercise today. I pumped the tires on my bike up and headed out. I find it really rough biking up here because of the wind and the gravel roads. The wind pushes you back and some parts of the gravel roads just make the tires spin. It did however give me just enough extra points to enjoy a little treat afterwards.

Despite the extra exercising I’ve been trying to get in this week, I think I’m going to find that I haven’t actually lost any weight when I weigh in tomorrow. I’m trying to stay hopeful but I’ve gone off track by quite a bit yet again. We’ll see what happens tomorrow morning I guess.

I’m trying to get in a lot of reading these days and am really enjoying it. I don’t know how much reading I’ll get to do once school starts back up since I might start getting calls to substitute fairly early in the year since many of the regular subs have moved away. I’m currently reading the newest Harry Potter book but I have also been going through my art books to find exercises and ideas. I’ve even done a few exercises and been experimenting with some of the different techniques they discuss. I’m really enjoying it and the little creations I’m getting out of it. That’s one thing I definitely want to keep up with this year too since it really does make me happy. I’ve mostly been working with watercolour lately but I definitely want to do some more acrylic paintings and maybe another oil painting. I still have about six canvasses of various sizes left to choose from so I’m in pretty good shape. Half of the time I get stuck trying to choose a subject to paint! I’ve got lots of good pictures from our trip down to Ontario and PEI this summer along with my photo albums from the past few years, so I should be able to come up with an idea or two! I also want to try and do some more sketches and see what I can come up with. I have a feeling there’s something really interesting swirling around in my head that is just waiting to take form. I just have to try and turn off that inner critic that tends to stop me before I truly start.
