the stomach saga

My stomach was still bothering me yesterday so I decided it was time to head to see my doctor.  I hadn't eaten anything solid since 6:30 the night before and despirt a bit of hunger, my stomach was feeling a little better. I figured this wasn't necessarily a good sign since it seemed that my stomach was feeling better when I wasn't eating. So, I saw the doctor and he put me on "clear liquids" until I see him again today. He figured I had a bit of stomach flu, gastritis and nerves. He figured that the advil I'd been taking for my headaches/pain was causing some of the problems (the gastritis specifically).

By the time I see him again I will have gone more than 36 hours with no solid food. I did have some soup broth last night and that felt really good. My stomach was still pretty gurgly when I ate it but I definitely think that I'm feeling better.

I asked work if I could take today as a vacation day because I figured I might be pretty useless after so many hours without food. I think I made the right choice. I seem to pretty coherent but also pretty darn low on energy. I slept really well last night. I guess that's bound to happen when you aren't consuming enough calories to fuel your body. By the end of my shift yesterday all I could think of was food!  I don't know if I could have stomached much of anything but damn, did I ever want to try!

So, I'm home today, reading and watching TV, sleeping and relaxing. My appointment is at 1 o'clock, so I'm just going to take it easy until then, eat some more soup broth and chill out.

Tonight I'm heading to see the Da Vinci code, despite it's terrible reviews, with hazelbranch, eumelosdrizzle and my dearest the5uperu5er. I'm really looking forward to it... that and solid food.
