Getting back in the swing

I'm finally feeling better. Last week was rough in terms of being sick and I ended up spending most of it at home. I made it in to work on Friday but had to leave early because I was still pretty congested. It worked out well though because my Mom had come for a visit so I was able to head back to my place with her instead of having her wait at a coffee shop or something for my shift to finish.

I didn't hear anything back from my doctor about the x-rays so I'm assuming everything is okay. I had to take out my earrings and my lip-ring for the x-rays and have decided not to put the lip-ring back in. After all the fuss I made about how much I wanted the damned thing, I was surprised by how easy it was to make the decision to get rid of it. It had become a bit of a nuisance, hitting my gums and being something that I fidgeted with constantly. Even smiling caused the back of the stud to scrape against my gums and it was frankly not pleasant. So, I'm leaving it out and let me tell you, kissing, SO much better! Oh yeah, and I can laugh and smile too without getting stabbed!

The weekend with my mom in town was really nice. We rented a whole slew of movies and spent the weekend mostly relaxing and watching them. We also went out to eat together with Jboy to a couple of the little restaurants in my neighbourhood and just generally had a nice, low-key weekend.

I also got my hair cut, which it badly needed, and finished two new paintings. The paintings are both abstract pieces, inspired by what I shall call the SGK style and I'm really happy with the way they turned out. I'm going to try and post pictures of them over the next few days. I decided to do the abstracts because I find them relaxing and they don't take me too long to have a finished product. Since there are three new ones, counting one I did last week, all with a similar look to them, I thought I'd put them up together in the spare room, which has become my computer room/art room/etc.
Your lip-ring incident reminds me of my nose piercing. It has caused me so much grief in accidental haulings-out and inner nose pimples I've been tempted to get rid of it. We'll see the next accident I have with it.

But luckily it heals over fast, eh?

Any pics of your newest artwork available?
Yeah, piercings can be a pain. I had to get my nose ring taken out and redone because it wasn't healing properly. Thankfully getting it done by a professional piercer instead of a hair salon seemed to do the trick!

I think my lip piercing has pretty much healed over now. I'll always have a little indent where the hole was but it's not terribly noticeable.

I've taken the pics of the art but due to sheer laziness haven't uploaded them yet. Hopefully I'll have them up this weekend!
